Caring for your new Sovereign Grade BracesUpdated 5 months ago

Our selection of Sovereign Grade braces are the perfect accessory for adding elegance and practicality to your wardrobe. Here’s everything you need to know about wearing, adjusting, and caring for these handmade braces.

Braces Overview: Width and Length

  • Width: Due to the handmade nature of our braces, slight variations in width are expected. However, they typically measure around 4 cm (1.5 inches) wide, offering a comfortable and stylish fit.
  • Length: Our braces have a maximum length of 53 inches, making them suitable for most gentlemen. However, we do not recommend the boxcloth style for men taller than 6'3". All other styles are one-size-fits-all with an adjustable back.

How to Wear and Adjust Braces

  1. Attaching the Braces: Braces should be fastened to your trousers using the buttons provided on the waistband. Our braces come with leather button loops for this purpose. Ensure your trousers have inside buttons or have them added by a tailor.
  2. Adjusting the Fit: To adjust the length, use the sliding adjusters located on the front straps. Slide them up or down to find the ideal fit. The back strap is elasticated, allowing flexibility and comfort. The adjustable back ensures that our braces fit a wide range of heights and body types.
  3. Wearing with Style: Braces add a refined touch to formal attire and work best with high-waisted trousers. Ensure the tension is balanced across your shoulders to prevent discomfort and sagging.

Care Instructions

To maintain the quality and longevity of your Kirby Allison braces:

  • Storage: Always hang your braces when not in use to avoid wrinkling or damaging the elastic back. Use a braces hanger or simply loop them over a hanger to keep them in good condition.
  • Cleaning: We recommend spot cleaning the leather loops and straps with a damp cloth. Avoid machine washing, as it can damage the fabric and elastic. For fabric braces, a gentle hand wash may be suitable, but always air dry them flat to maintain their shape.

By following these tips, you can ensure your braces remain a functional and elegant part of your wardrobe for years to come.
